Healthcare Reform News

From Congressman Andy Barr's office:

As one of Congressman Barr’s key health care contacts in our district, I wanted to share the proposed budget reconciliation bill to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act. You can read a summary and the full bill text online:

Repost from The Hill

House Republicans on Monday (March 6, 2017) unveiled their long-awaited bill to repeal and replace ObamaCare.  The measure dismantles the core aspects of ObamaCare, including its subsidies to help people buy coverage, its expansion of Medicaid, its taxes and its mandates for people to have insurance.  In its place, Republicans would put in place a new system centered on a tax credit to help people buy insurance.

The CKAHU Board has continued to monitor the ongoing developments associated with COVID-19. Our top priority is the safety and health of our attendees.  As such, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 CKAHU Symposium - Back to the Basics, scheduled for June 2, 2020.  While we will miss connecting with you at the Symposium this year, we are hopeful to be back meeting in person this fall. Your registration or sponsorship can either be refunded or applied to next year's event.

Please let us know which option you prefer.  If we do not receive a response by June 2, 2020, we will assume you would like your registration or sponsorship to be applied to next year's event.  Should you have any additional questions, please reach out to CKAHU President, Deanna Sizemore at [email protected]

The Kentucky Department of Insurance has asked us to pass this information along to our members:

To our licensees who  need to complete continuing education requirements in the months of March and April:

Due to the COVID-19 emergency status, the Department of Insurance will be extending the time requirements for submission of continuing education hours.  Those licensees who normally would be required to complete all continuing education hours by cob March 31, 2020 will now have until cob May 31, 2020.  Those licensees who normally would be required to complete all continuing education hours by cob April 30, 2020 will now have until June 30, 2020 to complete the hours.   The reporting period of the completion of the continuing hours to the Department is also extended appropriately.

Additionally, with the close of the testing centers at the Community and Technical Colleges, DOI will be offering testing each day at our Mero Street office starting Wednesday, March 18.  We will be cleaning the testing facility before and after each test is given.  It should be noted for the protection of those testing and for the protection of DOI employees, anyone who comes to test and who is obviously ill, will not be allowed to test.

The Department of Insurance (following the Governor's directive) will be at partial staff at the Mero Street location until further direction.  Employees will be rotating on a telework basis until further notice.  DOI senior staff will continue to work at the Mero Street location.  All essential business processes will continue as usual.  We are here to assist you however we can.  Thank you for your work and best wishes to you and your family,

Sharon P. Clark, Commissioner

Kentucky Department of Insurance
